We were all downloaded into this material world because of the virus of desires and attachments. In Satya-yuga we had to manually delete all the viruses and desires one by one, reboot after reboot (life after life)
In the Treta-yuga our computer knowledge decreased, so the yuga-dharma was to perform costly sacrifices and call the technician (Lord Vishnu) who used to come occasionally, delete the viruses and then to go back.
In the Dvapara-yuga our computers got so bad that the technician had to permanently open a local branch office (temple) and reside there.
But in Kali-yuga Lord Caitanya has give us a master CD known as harinama-sankirtana. When we put this CD in, it automatically deletes all the viruses, installs bhakti in our system, and takes us back to Godhead.
